I must say that even if I love all of the four songs previewed from the new album, ‘Even in the Shadows’ is my favourite. Here are the lyrics to the song, I transcribed them myself, so they might not be 100% accurate.
Even in the shadows
I turn around
to find you walk away
And even when I whisper
the winds will come
to steal the words I sayI could fall and keep on falling
I could call and keep on calling
Wonder why this love is over
Wonder why it’s not foreverEven in the silence
I hear my heart
It’s still a part of you
And even in the morning
when light has come
I don’t know what to doI could fall and keep on falling
I could call and keep on calling
Wonder why this love is over
Wonder why it’s not foreverSo high, so low
Love is gone and love is gone…

Totally agree… I hope it’s available to download shortly :)
13 November 2015 at 1:33 PM
I am absolutely delighted – keep it up, dear Enya!!!
13 November 2015 at 1:33 PM
Amazing!! Enya is so good at balancing out positive and negative feelings with her words and melodies.
13 November 2015 at 1:34 PM
Perfect melody….lyrics so simple and at the same time it works so well…..to say how love is free and can’t be captured, how love is fragile…noone never knows why love goes away…the mystery of life and love…very very beautiful…Enya and Roma a real great team …thank you
13 November 2015 at 1:40 PM
I love how it sort of follows the style and rythym of the likes of Wild Child or Anywhere Is, but is just a ldarker, with a Tempus Vernum or Cursum Perficio-esque twist. It’s like as if because she is getting that little bit older, some of the songs and melodies are becoming a little more serious, with even more depth and reflection. So I Could Find My Way is arguably the same. It’s a beautiful thought.

I think it sounds very different from everything she has done in the past, in an awesome way.
13 November 2015 at 1:50 PM
@Gabriel.. I completely agree with you.
13 November 2015 at 1:55 PM
No words to express the power of this song ! My favorite of the 4 previewed of the album, really seems to be the most interesting album, even the most powerfull and the best. It sounds so different, from heaven. Really really enjoyed and really realy haste to have the whole album !
13 November 2015 at 2:09 PM
I breath Enya, I live Enya and still live forever. This album worth to wait 7 years
13 November 2015 at 2:34 PM
A video clip with that song, it would be the 8th wonder of the world
13 November 2015 at 2:55 PM
Thank you Enya
13 November 2015 at 4:09 PM
I have to admit. This song made me cry like a baby. It’s soo powerful!
13 November 2015 at 4:26 PM
You know what, Enya just gave us a treasure with this song!!! I cried of joy the first time I listen to it!!! It really captures the fellings around when a love is gone, but at the same time, gives you the strength to move on!!!
Thank You Enya!
13 November 2015 at 4:32 PM
It is just so amazingly beautiful. It’s my favourite so far! I just love the melodies and the lyrics are sad but light.
13 November 2015 at 4:46 PM
Absolutely BRILLIANT,!!!!!!
13 November 2015 at 4:58 PM
This song is one of those songs (like Orinoco Flow) which for generations and generations to come, will simply be …. Indescribable.

The Humming: The Third Single https://open.spotify.com/track/77SNKEvqosMjtFmJGyA5dW
13 November 2015 at 5:26 PM
My fave out of the four as well. We all love Enya for her ethereal, unearthly qualities and the way she spreads harmony over us like fairy dust but I am hugely enjoying this song for the fact that the lyrics are quite personal and express vulnerability, and the drama in the song doesn’t get a straightforward, happy resolution.
13 November 2015 at 5:58 PM
Enya, your music always makes me cry – so beautiful.
13 November 2015 at 6:36 PM
Is this the second single? Or the third? Is The Humming… a single?

13 November 2015 at 7:29 PM
I wish the song had more of a crescendo in it or at least some type of build. I may get slack for this, but out of everything we’ve heard thus far, Enya sounds a bit “tired” in this new album. Not that it’s not beautiful or magical, because it definitely sounds the most magical so far, but there isn’t a ton of excitement in these tracks. Now I understand why they chose “Echoes in rain” as the kickoff to this new movement.
I really love “Even in the shadows” because it’s VERY modern sounding, especially in the lyrics: “I could call and keep on calling…” I just wish Enya had really built up the last verse and chorus and really drenched them in vocals and effects. The song reminds me A LOT of “One by one”mixed with “Pax Deorum,” “The Longships,” and “Amid the falling snow,” at least in terms of tempo. It’s a definite walking-song and I can picture a beautiful video of Enya with lots of slow-motion, hero shots in it. It would be amazing to see a music video where she is in the midst of an unrequited love and she’s struggling to let go. Kind of like Adele did with “Hello.”
I was hoping we would see a more playful Enya – like she was on ADWR, but I guess with a title like “Dark sky island” there would be some heaviness and “brooding” involved. Someone said “The Loxian Gates” sounds like “Less than a pearl” but maybe “Sancta Maria” and “Remember your smile” will give us some bounce and ‘mmm-ph’ that I so crave. Not every track needs to be heavy and loaded with meaning. I think it would be interesting to hear more playful tunes like “My my time flies.” Just my opinion though.
13 November 2015 at 8:16 PM
Adele and Enya – so not comparable. Enya WAY different league!
13 November 2015 at 8:38 PM
Does anyone know for when video ?? Perhaps the November 20? For Even in the Shadows ?? 0)
13 November 2015 at 9:15 PM
ohhhhh i loooove this song so much, so catchy and infectious!!! much better than my my time flies…. the album sounds will be dark, love it!!!
13 November 2015 at 9:46 PM
this was my favourite from the album snippets and i think it lives up to the expectations. this one should have been chosen as the lead single… much better than echoes in rain… which in fact almost seems to be the weakest track on the album, since it is (i am sorry to say, really!) rather limited as far as the melody is concerned… nothing against a simple and catchy tune, but echoes is a bit too simple even for me:-)
14 November 2015 at 1:06 AM
Right after the first notes played I felt I was viewing a movie. This song has to belong to a movie soundtrack, I hope a good one.
Enya did again her best, I’m so delighted by listening to ‘Even in the Shadows’. I sense I’m not the only one who pressed ‘repeat’ more than a couple of times.
#22 JDR, many of your points make sense.
#10 André, I somehow would like to see Enya in the video clip slapping her partner and driving away in a ’70s Camaro in endless donuts! (LOL, excuse my jest)
14 November 2015 at 2:04 AM
There is nothing as beautiful as Enya…..
Dark Sky Island. …
Splendid. …😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
14 November 2015 at 10:27 AM
Loving this song. Along with Echoes in Rain they are the best weve heard so far. This is a very commercial pop song for her. I hope it is a proper single & we get a music video x
15 November 2015 at 1:08 AM
I agree, it’s probably my favorite of the four we’ve heard so far. I can’t stop listening to it! I love the subject of the song. The lyrics are wonderful and they’re a little different from what Enya usually sings. Sometimes I feel like Roma writes about similar tops with the same kind of lyrics, so this is a little refreshing. The beat is dark but infectious and it goes along well with the sense of loss and letting go in the lyrics. I hope it gets a proper single release, because I think it could do well in some territories.
As much as I was excited for ‘The Humming’, I was surprised to find that this song is the one that resonated with me much more. The Humming is also a beautiful and mysterious song, but this one is just so enchanting.
My only problem with it is that I wish the outro was a little longer, just to really let the song resonate with the listeners. Right now it ends a bit too soon. But that’s only a small comment.
15 November 2015 at 2:26 AM
All songs can be heard from the album in full (at least for the moment) after this article. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/event/article-3315368/Enya-single-Strictly-famous-neighbour.html
15 November 2015 at 3:14 AM
Why they leaking the song online?
15 November 2015 at 7:58 AM
Listened to the whole album.
Incredible. Fantastich. Magnificique. Bellissima. Bagus.
Her best album so far, hands down. I can die happy now. Thank you Enya!!
15 November 2015 at 9:05 AM
it’s a very strong return. I found that there were several surprises (vocally and instrumentally). For example, the male chanting/choir in The Forge of Angels, the operatic singing style in Astra et Luna, the very low register she sings in in bridge section of Dark Sky Island and the almost child-like singing in Sancta Maria. On the whole, I think this is definitely one of her more original-sounding albums since Shepherd Moons. And (of course), there is not a bad song in the bunch. Always amazed at some of the key-changes she pulls off. BTW, “I Could Never Say Goodbye” is intensely emotional–hard not to cry a bit.
15 November 2015 at 9:38 AM
I am loving listening to the new album whole at http://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/event/article-3315368/Enya-single-Strictly-famous-neighbour.html :) I’m a bit flummoxed as to why Enya has let us all listen to the each track fully before the album comes out, but oh well, I suppose its a marketing plea.
The songs are even better than what I imagined. I Could Never Say Goodbye is such a sad lament, so typical in the Enya style. Reminds me of a little of Smaionte with Evening Falls.
The title track of the album is much better than what I imagined, does make you feel like your travelling on the sea to a fantastical new place :)
x
15 November 2015 at 9:50 AM
Dani: I agree. Both the title track and I Could Never Say Goodbye didn’t sound outstanding on the sampler, but once I listened to the songs in full, I’m convinced they’re two of the finest songs Enya has ever done.
15 November 2015 at 11:41 AM
To listen or not to listen – that is the question…
15 November 2015 at 12:26 PM
It’s really hard to not listen to the full preview :P I I’ve listened a bit to DSI and Sancta Maria. As the other people said, those songs are better than in the sample.
15 November 2015 at 1:05 PM
It would be a definite shame for her not to feature some well-directed music videos. Youtube definitely helps to add exposure to a song and for a track to have a cinematic and memorable music video would definitely be a good thing! I hope she tones down on the music video style of having an orchestra behind her and her just standing static in the middle of the stage, it is very boring when she does that, and it doesn’t add to the drama of the song as well. With a track like “Even in the Shadows”, it shouldn’t be wasted on such a stiff video! It needs some of the ideas posted in this comments sections :D
15 November 2015 at 3:40 PM
You can listen the hole album.
,,I could never say Goodbye” for the people, who are die in terrorism in Paris on 13th November 2015.
In Memory of this People
Enya, thank you very emotional and real, thanks.
This is the right song to give the other people hold and hope.
I have try in my eyes :)
15 November 2015 at 3:43 PM
Sorry I mean tears in my eyes ;(
15 November 2015 at 3:48 PM
Please Enya, give the Song ,,I could never say Goodbye” for people, who are die in war, terrorism,….
This is a good helping for people, who are live in this hard way.
Thank you Enya
I hope, you and Roma and Nicky read this, and understand what I mean.
I don’t have people in france for instance, but this song help to live with this dilemma and so more….
15 November 2015 at 6:27 PM
definitely listen:-) you never know what may happen tomorrow… and the sound will be so much different when being played on a decent stereo for the first time anyway, compared to the crappy sound of the laptop:-) i have to admit i did it and am thrilled, the humming and even in the shadows and the loxian gate are the three best songs so far… and sancta maria too…
although i am not sure if it beats my all time favourite amarantine, where basically every song was a five star piece of art… anybody agreeing with me on that? :-)
15 November 2015 at 6:48 PM
I think I may actually prefer this album to AMARANTINE. In any case, WATERMARK is still her best album (IMO)–but that may be because that album introduced me to Enya’s music. I think “Even in the Shadows” may be the song I like least on the album (although it is still a great track). I think right now, the standouts for me are The Humming, Sancta Maria, The Loxian Gates and I Could Never Say Goodbye. But that is the great thing about Enya’s music. Different songs are favorites at different times.
15 November 2015 at 8:04 PM
I just heard it in its entirety!
Tá an ceol go hálainn. ..go hiomlán
The music is beautiful …totally.
Maith thú, arís.
Well done, again.
Eithne, mo cheol thú!
Eithne, you are my music(inspiration)
15 November 2015 at 9:04 PM
I wouldn’t listen to the whole CD in one session. I feel it’s like emptying a kilo of candies and cookies in 30 min. I prefer to associate the feeling and the sound of each special song to some special moment of my life. So far I listened out of curiosity up to the 7th track but I think I’ll wait until after I buy my album in order to enjoy the sound mastering at my home stereo appliance.
Sebastian is right, Enya could dedicate a song to the victims of the Bataclan concert. I hope it won’t be long until people realize the inability of Islamic tradition to incorporate to the European civilization. I become really terrified when I see the mother in law of a friend of mine, having been raised and stayed for several decades in France, turning Islamic radical in her 60th year.
Europeans really underestimate the necessity of tight borders and until they realize it it may cost lots of souls. While media will be chewing again and again pictures of horror, fulfilling the Islamic radical propaganda.
15 November 2015 at 9:14 PM
@Lucia:
Do you think we can take very emotional pictures and can take Enya’s Music ,,So I could never say Goodbye” from the attack in Paris, and we collect some moneys for the rest of people, who live in this hard way? And we can take this video for Memory of the Humans, who are died in this terrible way? ;(
It is very hard, and I think some people find Solace with Enya’s Music. :)
I hope Enya read this and help of this, this is not promotion, it is helpfully for this people, who live in scared.
It is not easy, but it is good to fight again terrorism.
And with the music from Enya I think it is a little flower, but with many Power to protect the soul and the humans to do something wrong.
I hope you understand, what I mean, because my English is not good.
A good Evening
in this Sunday :)
15 November 2015 at 9:27 PM
,,So I could never say Goodbye” by Enya
,,Night has gone without my tears
Now I walk alone
You’re no longer here
The days turn to years
I could never say goodbye
To the sadness in my eyes
You know you are in my heart
But the miles keep us apart
Time moves slow
In the falling rain
I still dream of you
And whisper your name
Will I see you once again?
I could never say goodbye
To the sadness in my eyes
You know you are in my heart
But the miles keep us apart
I could never say goodbye”
This is the official text of that.
And I think it is so true, and many of the people, who live again and again
and they hope that they see the humans again, who are died in the attack in Paris.
Tears in my eyes with the melody and the pictures in web, and I have a big Condolence with this people.
Than it can happen wich all of you and this is very hard to understand.
I hope you understand my english expressions.
15 November 2015 at 9:48 PM
everybody might hate me for writing this, but anyway: combining enya with another terrorist attack? come on, everybody i know says “oh isnt she the one that wrote the song for 9/11?”
frankly i would not like it at all to see her again in connection with terrorism, sorry! i have the deepest respect for grieve and respect for the victims and i hate those terrorists as much as any of you…
let eny decide herself and do not force upon her music any kind of politics.
sorry folks, my opinion.
15 November 2015 at 10:01 PM
@Elmar:
I accepted your opinion. I have respect with your meanings.
That is Enya’s way, and her Music give people peace and a kind of power to live on this terrible dilemma.
But Enya decides what happens with her music.
Thats correct.
It is only an idea to spend energy and power for people, who have lost many humans.
So now I stop my writing.
But I hope Enya and you understand what I mean.
15 November 2015 at 10:24 PM
@sebastian: no hard feelings, and i did not mean to offend anybody.
different people, different opinions, the main thing is that enya is back and we can enjoy it… with all the different emotions that come with it, sadness or joy or why not a good mixture of both.
i hope this cd gets a push in commercials, has anybody seen anything? not a single poster anywhere in town so far…
15 November 2015 at 11:06 PM
Sorry elmar, you’re right.
As a matter of fact I haven’t seen much of any sort of advertisement about “Dark Sky Island” so far.
Despite that sales of Enya’s CDs usually turn unexpectedly high regardless of advertisement brainwashing, because Enya fans are conscious music lovers.
I can’t wait to have my CD!
16 November 2015 at 12:00 AM
@J. Grinbo: Neither can I! Top of my Christmas list!
16 November 2015 at 12:34 AM

16 November 2015 at 12:59 PM
About terorism, it’s not about religion nor race, it’s about humanity
But, Let’s discuss about Enya’s music again.
I do agree if any of those Enya’s new songs will involved on movie to rise up her album sale rather than becoming (again) an anthem of a tragedy.
16 November 2015 at 2:32 PM
Even for me in the shadows still the best song, and even those who do not know will love Enya I think.
16 November 2015 at 4:53 PM
I dunno, I really like So I Could Find My Way from the new album so far.
16 November 2015 at 9:52 PM
Thanks to Enya for this incredibile gift.
Love the whole album.
It makes my cry and happy at same time.
Only Enya with her music got this power to me.
<3
17 November 2015 at 6:11 AM
Even in the shadows should be the lead single
17 November 2015 at 9:30 AM
to some users above, I beg your pardon? I’m a Muslim Enya fan, I know my religion from A to Z, and I’m not idiot I won’t follow any religion that teach discord. majority muslims fight and condemn terrorism as much as you do. These extremists, in orthodox Islam text & teaching, are actually the prophesied supporters of Anti-Christ and dogs of hell, but sure you won’t hear it in media. terrorism has no religion.
For the rest of posts above, I’m agree wholeheartedly that in the chaos world, Enya’s music is a comfort and healing for heart.
17 November 2015 at 9:34 AM
really love the music and her layering of her voice is absolutely stunning
17 November 2015 at 11:46 AM
@Molly: As a fellow fan, I’m sorry for some of the ignorant comments above. Islam has nothing to do with terrorism. (I should know – I’m a non-Muslim person who loves and admires a Muslim person.) And Enya has touched the hearts of people from all walks of life. In these trying times, her music is a reminder that all of us are in the pursuit of beauty.
17 November 2015 at 11:50 AM
when I heard this song sampler, I thought ”oh another my my time flies”. but boyyyy was I wrong….EITS is certainly three times better!
this album gonna outdo The Memory of Trees, which imo is the best Enya’s album so far in terms of musical arrangement and variability. Hands down when I listen to the whole album streaming, I don’t see any bad or ”lacking” song. Every single track, every one of them is gem. just….wow….Enya stole my heart again….this time
I can see Grammy and finally real concerts are coming our way! ;D
17 November 2015 at 2:33 PM
Even in the shadows, the more I listen the more I like, ever … sound different, that will please those who do not know Enya, the youngest. But the music of all the songs is very well worked. His magnifique.I Could never say goodbye, moving the paroles.Gorgeous poème.Diamonds on the water, I found easy at first, but I find better and better.
