King Julien and Sonya the Bear love theme
Dreamworks Animations uploaded the ‘Madagascar 3′ segment featuring Enya’s ‘Watermark’ to their Youtube channel. It’s actually pretty funny.
Enya, Roma and Nicky are back in the studio working on the next album. (12.12.2012)

Enya has a fair number of tracks that never made it onto a studio album or a best of compilation. Some get re-released quite often across many singles (Oiche Chiuin, anyone?) and some get their one release and that’s it. Now, I am going to talk about the latter.

I set up an Enya.sk Twitter account to see if people are interested. Feel free to follow it to keep in touch with all things Enya. There will be no tweets from the real Enya, I am afraid :)
And as the site is running on WordPress, you can also subscribe to an automatic rss feed.

I decided to write a series of posts about Enya releases for casual fans and beginner collectors. There is a great number of singles, special editions and promotional items from all over the world and it might be difficult to decide what to buy at first. I will talk mainly about releases that are not impossible to obtain and can be either still found in online stores or at least show up on eBay quite often.
The first article is going to talk about ‘A Box of Dreams’ and ‘Only Time’ collections, and ‘Amarantine Deluxe Collector’s Edition’ and ‘The Very Best of Enya Collector’s Edition’ deluxe box-sets. These items can be a wonderful start for a new Enya fan (that’s how I started!) or an easy upgrade for someone who owns the studio albums and wants to move on. The artwork is usually beautiful and these editions contain exclusive material that you won’t get on iTunes or regular albums.

I moved all the articles hosted on the website to WordPress. Now, you can look them up by categories, search and comment to your heart’s content. There are also new additions, so I encourage you to explore them over here.
These are the ones that are probably the most interesting:

I found an article from the ‘And Winter Came…’ promotion that I haven’t read yet. It was published in the Australian magazine MindFood in November 2008 and Enya talked about her hobbies, favourite writers and spending time with her family in Sidney. Read the ‘Celtic songbird’ article here.
EXCERPT:
“My life is really very normal. When I’m not writing music I catch up with family and friends. I read, I particularly like Daphne du Maurier and Alan Bennett. I go on holiday. I have dinner parties. I fix up my house.I go to Pilates, and because my back gets so tense from being hunched over the piano all day, I have lots of shiatsu massages. I’m not that reclusive. I like going out. I love red carpet events like the Oscars and the Grammys but I don’t like my picture in the paper for the sake of it.”

The news section of the website is now running on WordPress. I tried to test everything but if you experience any problems, please let me know. The comments could unfortunately not be transferred from the old platform but I archived all of them, so nothing was lost.
If the website displays incorrectly, please try refreshing the page (press F5).

A short excerpt from Enya’s ‘Watermark‘ can be heard in the new ‘Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted’ movie. The piano instrumental is played when Julien meets Sonya for the first time on the train. Love at first sight!

Something to read over a rainy weekend: pages for all the songs on Watermark, Shepherd Moons and Paint the sky with Stars are finished.
I’d like to thank to Roma for writing the wonderful lyrics and liner notes, TreeCat for hosting the articles, Enya fans for transcribing many of them and myself for not going crazy after compiling all this.

Enya’s parents, Leo and Baba Brennan, were presented with a Benemerenti Medal by Bishop Philip Boyce after Sunday mass in Derrybeg. The medal, awarded by the pope, recognises service to the church and Leo and Baba were recognised for their years as organists in Meenaweal Church and Derrybeg church respectively. Members of the Brennan family, including Enya, were there for the special occasion (photo from Donegal News). Thanks to Draíocht for the photo and info and congratulations to Leo and Baba!
